Having the right visa is all you need to live and work in New Zealand after your studies. For international students that have obtained a New Zealand qualification getting employments into their related field of study is allowed.
Based on what you major in or what you studied, you can work in New Zealand for about four years, and stand a chance to gain residence in the country.
So firstly, to live and work in New Zealand you will need to apply for a visa and get it endorsed.
There are two main ways to do this using a study to work technique:

Obtaining this visa allows you a year to live in New Zealand and find employment in the field you major. And while in search for this job you are at liberty to work anywhere else to
2. Post-study work visa (employer assisted):
Obtaining this visa allows you over two years to live in New Zealand and find employment in the field you major. Probably three years if you’re your professional registration demands work experience. However, this visa is related to a specified job with a specified employer.
With a little boost from your employer, you could get issued a New Zealand residence visa from the Skilled Migrant Category after your post-study work visa. The likelihood of that you will be allowed to stay in the country with a work visa or residence visa is improved if the employment you’ve obtained suffers certain skill deficiencies.
Passing your character and health checks is mandatory for any visa you wish to apply.
